Do you know where you are going next?
Where are you starting? Where do you want to be in 6 months or 5 years? And do you know how to get from the starting point to where you want to be?
In basketball, players have dreams to play varsity basketball, be all district/all state, go to college on a basketball scholarship, and even play professionally, but before they can do any of these things they need to know where they are today.
At San Angelo Basketball Academy our purpose is to help you understand where your child stands right now through our player evaluation process, and then design a plan to allow your child to improve to reach his or her dreams. As your child develops this flowing plan will adjust to continue to improve his or her mental, physical, and emotional skills on and off the court.

Confidence comes when both the mental and physical are taught …..and learned!
Learning how to PHYSICALLY do something over and over is not enough to make you confident. You must also believe in what you are doing, and understand why you are doing it this way.
At San Angelo Basketball Academy we teach techniques to not only help our students learn the physical but also to understand mentally why they are learning it...…….. with the key to our teaching methods being not everyone understands or learns in the same way.
That is why we focus on smaller group training and limit the number of students in our camps.
Let us work with your child to give him or her the confidence needed to better enjoy and play this great game of basketball.

How do you trust someone you don't know?
Your kids are precious to you, and they should be. You will do anything to protect and keep them safe, and to find the best people possible to help them grow and develop.
So how do you know who really has the best interest of you and your child in mind when looking at someone you've never met? When possible you do some research.
Here are some testimonials from people that know San Angelo Basketball Academy. One is a top rated collegiate JUCO coach, one is a TX high school state champion coach and the third is someone like YOU, a parent looking for a place for her son (daughter) to get better at basketball.
- "Coach Matt is one of the most incredible fundamental coaches I have ever worked with at any level including NCAA D1, NCAA D2 and Junior College. His attention to detail is second to none and will no doubt help players of all ages and abilities take their game to the next level. He definitely knows what it takes to get players to improve their skill sets with his experience as a former collegiate athlete himself and his time working with the ASU Women’s Basketball team as my Assistant Coach. His teaching and communication methods will have all players excited to come to workouts and their confidence skyrocketing knowing they are being challenged and improving everyday but still having FUN! Excited to see what the guys and girls that go through this academy do in the future at the high school and college levels. This is a great opportunity for boys and girls in the San Angelo area." Coach Cayla Petree, South Plains College
- Our very first student’s mom after working with her 7th grade son for a week: “ I can definitely see a change in his confidence…..absolutely recommend (training with SABA) due to the structure and focus provided with Coach Conrad…..The best part (as a parent) is my son wanting to show his mom and dad what he learned.” L.C.
- "I'd like my son to work with Matt when I am in San Angelo. Learning basketball in a fun and fundamental environment. Excellent teacher of the game." Coach Darrell Collins, Former ASU player '91, and TX State Champion High School Coach.
- "Matt creates an atmosphere where kids are engaged and learning which allows them to try new things to expand their game. He is great for growing kid's skill and love for the game." Coach Scott Richardson, Christoval High School Athletic Director and Head Girls Basketball Coach.

Is your child really improving?
You sign your child up for camps, you put him or her on a school team and a travel team, you know your child loves the game and is always practicing, but is he or she really getting better? And how do you know? I'm sorry to say simply playing in more games and spending time practicing is not necessarily helping your child develop into a COMPLETE player. Chances are he or she is getting better at what they like to practice and are already good at doing.
That is why I started San Angelo Basketball Academy and why I prefer to work with small groups/private training. So I can help you and your child understand where he or she stands today and what he or she needs to do to become a successful, complete player.
Please email [email protected] to schedule a player evaluation. This is the first step in designing a training program that fits your needs. Or if you prefer sign up for one of our upcoming camps which will include a player evaluation.
